Podcast Episode 8: Overcoming PCOS and Infertility with Faith Ralphs

Have you ever felt confused when trying to find information about a certain health condition? Doctor’s visits are often brief, and information available online and in other places can be contradictory and confusing.

We experienced this big time in 2015 when we began seeing specialists in an effort to resolve digestive issues my husband had dealt with for years. Almost without fail, the information available on the internet and the very little dietary advice we received from the specialists pointed to a diet that emphasized meat and eggs and minimized or completely avoided grains and legumes. However there is a growing mountain of scientific research to support the power of plants for nearly every health concern, including infertility.

Today’s guest, Faith Ralphs, was struggling to have children and diagnosed with PCOS. The information she found didn’t feel right to her, but when she sought and followed divine inspiration she no longer has any symptoms of PCOS and now has two beautiful healthy children. The real beauty of her story is that there is plenty of science to back up her experience, but it still may not be the first thing that comes up in your google search, which we will share as well.

Faith is the mastermind behind FaithfulPlateful.com and loves creating whole food recipes that will appeal to everyone. Faith really put her heart into preparing this episode so it can be a resource for those who might be struggling with similar struggles. I learned a lot from Faith and can’t wait to share it with you.

Things to Remember:

  • We can’t necessarily rely on google or Instagram to give us accurate health information! Turn to God for guidance for our individual situation.
  • PCOS is related to insulin resistance, and is helped by eating more fiber and less fat, particularly the saturated fat found in animal products and coconut. Eating plenty of fiber allows our bodies to dispose of extra hormones rather than storing them.
  • While there are so many issues that can affect fertility and pregnancy, what better place to start with than to make sure the roughly 3 pounds of food we consume each day is helping us and not hurting us?
