Smoothie for Stable Blood Sugar
Diagnosed with diabetes at 25, Kiana Benson found the medication she was prescribed left her feeling awful.
She decided to try managing her blood sugars with diet and lifestyle, and with the help of a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) and a whole food, plant-based diet she has been able to bring her A1C down from 10.3 to 5.3.
Kiana loves this smoothie for breakfast to keep her full and her blood sugar stable for hours!
What’s Inside:
Hemp, Chia and Flaxseeds: perhaps the best sources of omega 3s you can find, these seeds are packed with healthy fats, protein and fiber and a great addition to most any meal. Although related to the marijuana plant, hemp seeds do not contain CBD and have a rich nutritional profile. Chia and flax have been shown to have a host of health benefits, from fighting cancer to regulating weight.
Brazil Nuts: Brazil nuts are one of the only plant sources of Selenium and a great thing to consume regularly!
Elevate Plant-Based Protein Powder: Elevate does not have any added sugar!
Frozen Berries, Cherries and Kale – The other ingredients balance out the sugars in the fruit for Kiana.
Amla Green: The authors of Mastering Diabetes set out to harness the health benefits of Indian Gooseberries without the downsides of other products on the market. Read more here!
I’m so grateful Kiana would take the time to share with us all that she’s learned in her journey since being diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago.
She really highlighted the power that learning from other’s experiences can have, and I hope that things she gained from her experience will click and be helpful for you! Listen in here!
